Artist, Author, Creative Spirit
I've loved to draw and paint for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, my favorite day of the week was Friday. This was art day, my history/art teacher always had wonderful projects and supplies.
Equally fun was library day. I enjoyed choosing the most colorful picture books. The Librarian read stories to us, something my parents didn't have time to do. Occasionally I got to order my own books from the Weekly Reader.
As a junior high student, I loved to draw Charlie Brown and the other Peanuts characters from the Sunday comics. Growing up on a 200-acre dairy farm, I had lots of chores to do and my drawing time was limited to one day week. So in high school I took every art class that was available. I enjoyed trying new techniques and mediums. As a senior I was the school newspaper's cartoonist/reporter.
I attended Alexandria AVTI, in Alexandria, Minnesota, where I studied photography, ad layout, brush lettering, drawing, and more. I graduated with a degree in commercial art.
My first job after graduation, was keylining (a job the no longer exists, spell check says it's spelled wrong).
Since then I've had many jobs, most unrelated to art. Which are too many to mention.
For the past thirty years, I have used my artist talents to paint customized store window designs, advertising, seasonal murals, post cards and face painting.
I live in Northfield, MN with my husband. We have three children (one of which is deceased). One grandson and three cats.
My life long love of art and literature has inspired me to become a children's author/illustrator.
Good Day, Sad Day, Same Day is my first published book, with hopefully more to come.
